The press helper lead will plan and lead all functional area activities in a consistent and cost-effective manner; to provide leadership, motivation, and direction to all staging crews; to actively anticipate press needs, allocate resources and decrease press changeover times.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities (Note, activities that occupy approx. 80% of time):

  • Lead the changeover teams to decrease changeover times
  • Direct press staging crews in identifying and arranging priorities
  • Cultivate a culture of teamwork and shared responsibility
  • Train staging team in standard work process, the proper use of equipment and all job duties
  • Ensure all items are properly staged before they are needed on press to aid in decreasing setup time
  • Ensure proper communication between shifts
  • Ensure standard work is being followed by press staging crew
  • Assist in developing and improving standard work
  • Schedules appropriate staff for all functional areas according to workload
  • Ensures that available staff is effectively and efficiently utilized
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and functioning properly
  • Reviews daily time sheets for accuracy and corrects and forwards to accounting/payroll administrative assistant by end of the following day.  Undesirable patterns or misuse of time sheets are identified, and the appropriate corrective action and training conducted as identified
  • Sets and clearly defines employee expectations
  • Maintains consistent, accurate records and documentation of performance for employee appraisal and feedback
  • Ensures that all state and local laws are followed with regards to safety and environmental regulations and practices

Physical Job Demands:

This position requires a considerable amount of walking and being on your feet for long periods of time.  Occasional lifting/carrying 50-75 pounds.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent GED plus a minimum of five years flexographic print experience.  Additional experience in rewind and converting helpful.
