Surviving Hazardous Conditions

The Customer

The Department of National Defence (DND) is responsible for defending Canada’s interests and values. DND is responsible for maintaining internal peace and security. We could tell you more, but we’d have to – you know.

The Need

DND required a customized security tape label for their outdoor Hazardous Waste Program. Their technicians needed to record critical maintenance information and needed the ability to write on weather-proof material. The information needed to be encapsulated and preserved for their records.

The Challenge

It was absolutely critical that the label developed protect against the following:

  • Wear and tear from industrial equipment
  • It had to survive the harsh, Canadian winter climate
  • The label had to protect against direct sunlight, extreme heat
  • Lastly, the label had to protect against harsh chemical splashes

The Specifications

The specifications included No. 754 with Permanent Adhesive 6 millimeter yellow validation.

The Solution

AWT created a durable, customized butterfly label using a specialized coated substrate. The label had a clear, protective self-laminating cover to protect against the elements. The inks were able to resist the most extreme Canadian weather conditions, and included an aggressive backing adhesive that helped it stay secure. Mission accomplished, we produced a label that is ready for the harshest of hazardous conditions!
