New Capability for Shrink Sleeves Launched at Craft Brewers Conference

AWT Labels & Packaging (AWT), along with the company’s new acquisition partner Labeltronix, will be exhibiting at Brew Expo America in Minneapolis, Minnesota May 3-5. The trade show is part of the Craft Brewers Conference, an annual event presented by the Brewers Association.

Brew Expo America is the largest brewing tradeshow in the U.S., bringing together hundreds of vendors and over 10,000 brewery industry professionals. It is the only event that serves brewpubs, breweries, and wholesalers to the industry. AWT and Labeltronix will be exhibiting samples of their work in pressure-sensitive labels and shrink-sleeves for bottles and cans, the primary packages for craft brewers.

“We’re very excited about this event,” said Jill Sambol, Marketing Manager at Labeltronix. “We have been a label supplier to this dynamic and fun industry for many years, and we’ve provided eye-catching and unique labels that reflect the personalities of the many brands in this sector. We’re doubly excited this year because we can talk about our new capability for shrink-sleeves due to our new partnership with AWT.”

The ability to use shrink-sleeve decoration for beer cans is very attractive to the craft brewing industry. Traditionally, brewers have ordered pre-decorated cans according to how much of the many varieties they intended to produce. Buying pre-decorated cans is relatively expensive compared to buying blank cans and then decorating them with shrink-sleeves. If there is a change in the anticipated volume of any one variety, many of the cans purchased pre-decorated could be obsolete, costing the brewer a lot of money. Ordering blank cans and then printing shrink-sleeves to apply later gives brewers a lot more flexibility. This industry is known for acting on impulse when it comes to developing a new variety, and for the unique personality and style of the packaging. Shrink-sleeves allow an easier way to act on those impulses and be creative.

AWT and Labeltronix will be sharing a booth at Brew Expo America in the Minneapolis Convention Center.
